"Funny but over at Colombia and Fox if you are not sexually operational, forget your career , Cohn and Zanuck love sample the goodies . I got to tell you a funny story about zanuck . I recently just pick up a copy of " Ingrid" last week . But the book that I 'm waiting to be release is "Not the Girl Next Door: Joan Crawford, a Personal Biography"( release on February 5th) .

My Journey from Cloverfield to 27 dresses

Last night I was so eager to see one of the most participated monster movie this year "Cloverfield" opent this weekend at 43 million. So I bought a ticket at the theatre waiting eagerly . Theatre was Pack .I thought it would be fun...
The first 1o minutes or so of “Cloverfield” takes us to the going-away party thrown for a dude who has to move to japan . Then the monster attack . Then they run .The movie try to be cool by filming a whole movie in hand-held style cam. But the guy who suppose to be the one who hold the cam , not only try to talk stupid geeky joke but also didn't know how to hold a camera .The result is a lot of people feeling dizzy (I am one of them) . After 20 minute I saw a few people start to walk out . So I following them . One I stand up I feel horrible. On my way out i went straight to the first trash I saw and start to puke (Nasty Huh?)

After a little clean up in the restroom . I feel really up set and hurt by this A budget B-movie . So I decide to sneak in to the near by theatre to see pleasantly but predictable romantic comedy "27 dresses "

I have no idea who Katherine Heigl is . But I'm sure Ed Burn was hot. I'd nerver like James Marsden but I have to admit that he was really adorable in this movie . As I said the movie was cute but predictable . It's kind of a movie that you can wait for DVD .Not much to say.

After movie was over I was back to cloverfild again . I thought I'm just gonna give this movie another chance .. the result another throw up ..YIKE

At Castro theatre A couple week a go I had a chance to see one of Lana Turner least well-known MGM movie DIANE . It’ not suppose to be on schedule . But the Print of Elisabeth Taylor “the VIP” has a technical problem . So they replace DIANE instead .

Lana Play Diane de Poitiers who was a noblewoman and a fixture at the courts of Francis I and Henri II of France. She became notorious as the latter's favorite courtesan, though she was 18 years his senior.

Also in the movie Roger Moore (one of his pre James Bond ) was a good choice of Henry II . I have to admit that the movie is a lot better than I thought . It show that My girl Lana can really act. Notable mention was a beautiful score by Miklos Rozsa and a wonderful costume by Walter Plunkett (Gone with the wind , Raintree Contree ) I mean just only costume is already worth the ticket.

Burt Lancaster was nervous when he started the film. Most of his previous pictures had been fairly lightweight productions, and this was his first "serious" role. He was especially intimidated by Montgomery Clift's skill and intensity.

Joan Crawford refused a role because she abhorred the costumes.
Columbia Pictures head Harry Cohn wanted Aldo Ray to play Prewitt and Joan Crawford for the Karen Holmes role. Director Fred Zinnemann had his own ideas.

The scene in which Maggio meets Prew and Lorene in the bar after he walks off guard duty, was actually Frank Sinatra's screen test for the part of Maggio. To impress director Fred Zinnemann, he did an ad-lib using olives as dice and pretending to shoot craps. The entire sequence was kept as is and used in the picture.
In the scene where Burt Lancaster and Montgomery Clift play drunk sitting on the street, Clift actually was drunk, but Lancaster was not..
Joan Fontaine was offered the role of Karen Holmes but had to decline due to family problems. She now regrets it and blames the failure of her late career to turning down the offer.
The now classic scene between Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr in the rushing water on the beach was not written to take place there. The idea to film with the waves hitting them was a last minute inspiration from the director.
Harry Cohn was so convinced that Deborah Kerr could not be "sexy" enough to play the lead in this film that he almost did not cast her.
Shot in a mere 41 days and for only $1 million.
Frank Sinatra had to campaign especially hard to get this part as his career had hit a low point by this time
Shelley Winters turned down the role of Alma, as she had just given birth to her daughter Vittoria.
If Columbia head Harry Cohn had gotten his way, the film would have starred Aldo Ray as Prewitt, Edmond O'Brien as Warden, Joan Crawford as Karen, Julie Harris as Lorene and Eli Wallach as Maggio.
An urban myth regarding the casting of Frank Sinatra was that the Mafia made Columbia Pictures an offer they couldn't refuse. This of course was fictionalized in Mario Puzo's novel "The Godfather" and its subsequent film adaptation. The real reason for Sinatra's casting was mainly his then-wife Ava Gardner, who was shooting a film for Columbia head Harry Cohn and suggested to him that he use Sinatra. Although initially reluctant, Cohn eventually saw this as being a good idea, as Sinatra's stock was so low at the time that he would sign for a very low salary. Sinatra had been lobbying hard for the role,even suggesting he would do it for nothing, but he was eventually hired for the token amount of $8,000.
Harry Cohn resisted the idea of casting Montgomery Clift as Prewitt as "he was no soldier, no boxer and probably a homosexual". Fred Zinnemann refused to make the film without him.
The film went on to gross $18 million, the tenth highest grossing film of the 1950s.
Fred Zinnemann insisted on filming in black and white, as he felt that "color would have made it look trivial". He also eschewed the use of any of the popular new widescreen ratios.
Montgomery Clift threw himself into the character of Prewitt, learning to play the bugle (even though he knew he'd be dubbed) and taking boxing lessons. Fred Zinnemann said, "Clift forced the other actors to be much better than they really were. That's the only way I can put it. He got performances from the other actors, he got reactions from the other actors that were totally genuine."
Montgomery Clift, Frank Sinatra and author James Jones were very close during the filming, frequently embarking on monumental drinking binges. Clift coached Sinatra on how to play Maggio during their more sober moments, for which Sinatra was eternally grateful.
As scripted, Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster's classic clinch on the beach was to be filmed standing up. It was Lancaster's idea to do it horizontally in the surf. The scene was filmed at Halona Cove on the eastern side of Oahu, near Koko Head Crater and Sandy Beach, and the location became a major tourist attraction for years after.
The MPAA banned photos of the famous Burt Lancaster-Deborah Kerr passionate kiss on the beach for being too erotic. Many prints had shortened versions of the scene because projectionists would cut out frames to keep as souvenirs.
The censors demanded that Deborah Kerr's swimsuit should feature a skirt in its design so as to not be too sexually provocative.

The film helped to popularize Aloha shirts.

LB look at me turn absolutely red , and told me to go back home and dress the way a star should be seen in public, and never appear looking the way just ' any woman" would. According to CNN, Janet's new song "Feedback" is the subject of 1.34 million blogs around the world in a matter of 5 hours, and radio stations across the country has been swamped with hundreds of thousands of phone calls to play the song, making "Feeback" the most successful debut leak in music history. Major radio station website has been stalled because traffic for the song spiked damn near ninety percent. They said no other leak has generated this much buzz and anticipation since, well, never. And it hasnt even been released yet. The ablum will be released February 26, 2008 and she is currently shooting the video at an undisclosed location.

'Beowulf' rating causing a stir

"Beowulf" originally was going to arrive in theaters in two radically different versions. The PG-13 cut would play in regular theaters; an unrated version would play in IMAX 3-D theaters.
The MPAA shot down that idea, citing the rule that forbids studios to release different-rated versions of movies simultaneously. It would cause confusion, the thinking goes.

But, sporting a digitally nude Angelina Jolie and plenty of blood-spurting violence, "Beowulf" still seems to be causing its fair share of bewilderment outside the box-office.

"People can't believe it's not an R," said screenwriter Roger Avary, who wrote the movie with Neil Gaiman. "They walk out of the theater thinking, 'That's not the PG-13 version. That's the R-rated version.' I'm like, 'I'm sorry to disappoint you. But there's only one movie.' "

Adds Gaiman: "If we were using flesh-and-blood people, it might have been NC-17."

Not that the filmmakers didn't tone down a few things. In an early version, the monster Grendel bit off a warrior's head and slowly savored the taste sensation. The decapitation remains, minus about 75 percent of the crunchiness.

Gone, too, are Beowulf's privates. In the scene where he strips nude to fight Grendel, various objects and characters cover Beowulf's . . . um . . . spear, a la "Austin Powers."

"All the effort not to show Beowulf's penis frustrated me," Gaiman said. "Because it does move the scene into comic territory."

You do still get Angelina in her birthday suit, her body rendered in such a way that she felt compelled to call boyfriend Brad Pitt when she saw it.

"There are certain moments where I actually felt shy," Jolie said. "I didn't expect ourselves to come out as much. I didn't expect it to feel as real, so it was kind of funny at first."

Said Avary: "It's the IMAX 3-D. You see more detail in those nipples than you do in a normal projection. There's more dimension. Plus, we're this close to her . . . what would you call it . . . her hot spot."

One of Hollywood's most sought after bachelors, Lawford was romantically linked to almost every Hollywood sex goddess of the 1940s (including Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, and Rita Hayworth) before marrying Patricia Kennedy, daughter of Joseph Kennedy and sister of John F.

Almost impossibly handsome young lead in war dramas, comedies and musicals of the late 1940s and early 1950s, Lawford lived an equally glamorous off-screen life as one of Hollywood's most desirable playboys, and, in the 1960s, as the link between Frank Sinatra's Hollywood "Rat Pack" and the political glamour of brother-in-law of John F.

Lawford's father was a knighted World War I veteran who became an actor after he retired. Lawford's film debut was at age eight in the British film Poor Old Bill (1931) followed by a role in Lord Jeff (1938). Lawford grew to be a handsome and suave young man, who was being groomed for stardom by MGM in the 1940s. Lawford was the first actor to kiss Elizabeth Taylor on camera, and the last to speak to Marilyn Monroe before she died. Lawford also organized the famous 1962 birthday party for John F. Kennedy in Madison Square Garden where Monroe sang "Happy Birthday" to the President.

After an unconventional, nomadic childhood spent in the company of his aristocratic British parents, Lawford arrived in Hollywood in 1940 and quickly filled the void that WWII had left in the ranks of romantic young male leads. With his clipped accent, aristocratic good manners and charm, and boyish athleticism, Lawford was quickly signed by MGM to play young British soldiers in a series of patriotic features, and by the War's end rose to the romantic lead or second lead in numerous first-rate studio productions including "Good News" (1947), "Easter Parade" (1948), "Little Women" (1949), and "Royal Wedding" (1951).

Lawford was part of the famous Hollywood "Rat Pack," and performed with the group in Las Vegas and in films, including Ocean's Eleven and Sergeants Three. Lawford and Sinatra had a falling out in 1961 over brother-in-law Robert Kennedy's objections to Sinatra's alleged Mafia connections, and the two men never spoke again.

With the deaths of John and Robert Kennedy, his divorce from Patricia Kennedy and his falling out with the "Rat Pack", Lawford was regarded by the end of the 1960s as a charming lightweight personality, famous for being famous .

Deborah Kerr, a beautiful, classy lady who lit up the movies and the stage. part of Hollywood's most famous kisses in "From Here to Eternity" and danced with the Siamese monarch in "The King and I," has died. She was 86.

Kerr, who suffered from Parkinson's disease, died Tuesday in Suffolk in eastern England, her agent, Anne Hutton, said Thursday.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated Kerr six times for best actress, but never gave her an Academy Award until it presented an honorary Oscar in 1994 for her distinguished career as an "artist of impeccable grace and beauty, a dedicated actress whose motion picture career has always stood for perfection, discipline and elegance."

From the late 1960s, Kerr focused on theatre and television roles.
The actress was married twice and was made a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998.

Though there is an attempt to make these situations seem highly dramatic, the performances are little more than stereotypes, a result of the wretched dialog. This film was surprisingly frank about sex and illicit romantic affairs, much more so than PEYTON PLACE had been just two years earlier. New York Times article, Daves was quoted as saying that the "two affairs [in the film] May sound sensational, but...we have received the approval of the Johnston Office because the intent of the picture is a moral one." Variety review, the film "makes the most of Hollywood's newly-discovered freedom to display the voluminous vocabulary of sex....A couple of years ago, A Summer Place wouldn't have been made." The Hollywood Reporter review stated, "It is an absorbing study of sex as it affects most of our lives, though no civilized person will find in it anything that is cheap or nasty...." On the other hand, the New York Times review reported that Wilson's "novel emerges as one of the most laboriously and garishly sex-scented movies in years," and the Los Angeles Mirror review described A Summer Place as "so preoccupied with sex, you would think it has just been invented."

As an actor, Brent featured in many "women’s movies", where most of the time all that could be seen of George was the back of his neck, the screen more focused on whom he was kissing - not bad work if you can get it and it affords you a nice boat. Some of the women kissed by Brent included Kay Francis, Barbara Stanwyck, Myrna Loy, Ann Sheridan and Bette Davis, with whom he appeared in 11 movies including Jezebel (1938) and Dark Victory (1939).

Brent was a womaniser in Hollywood, and had a lengthy relationship with his co-star Bette Davis. He was married four times including three marriages to actresses - Ruth Chatterton (1932-1934), Constance Worth (1937) and Ann Sheridan (1942-1943). Chatterton and Sheridan were both fellow Warners Brothers players. His final marriage was to Janet Michaels, a former model and dress designer. They were married for twenty-seven years until her death in 1974. They had two children together, a son and a daughter.

Barefoot in the Park (1967)

Based on Neil Simon's 1963 play of the same title, it focuses on newlyweds Corrie and Paul Bratter (Jane Fonda and Robert Redford) and their adventures living in a tiny fifth-floor walk-up apartment in a Greenwich Village brownstone. Stuffed-shirt Paul is a hard-working young attorney just starting his practice, while spontaneous bride Corrie is determined to create a romantic environment in one room with no heat, a hole in the skylight, and oddball neighbors.

The title refers to Paul's becoming drunk, throwing caution to the wind and running barefoot in Washington Square Park in response to his wife's repeated complaints about his sober and cautious demeanor.

...Mildred Natwick (who actually the best thing in the movie) reprises her stage role as the bride's mother, Charles Boyer is featured as the eccentric upstairs neighbor, and Herb Edelman appears as a telephone installer.

Natwick was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Fonda was nominated for a BAFTA as Best Foreign Actress, and Simon received a nod from the Writers Guild of America.

The "cactus flower" of the title is Bergman, as Stephanie, a mousy dental assistant secretly in love with her boss, Matthau, a womanizing bachelor. When the dentist enlists her help to get rid of his much-younger girlfriend, Hawn, by pretending to be his wife, the prickly Stephanie blooms like the proverbial title plant.

THE NY POST's PAGE SIX reports that Madonna showed up for some fun, and was said to be "quite chummy" with fellow musician Shakira. The two pop divas reportedly showed up "hand in hand," according to a source. Shakira wasn't the only famous friend hanging out with Madonna, though, as Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Penelope Cruz reportedly joined her for a dance on the club's banquettes. "AFI's 100 Years ... 100 Movies - 10th Anniversary Edition," "Citizen Kane" held the same No. 1 billing it earned in the institute's first top-100 ranking in 1998.

There were notable changes elsewhere, though, with Martin Scorsese's 1980 masterpiece "Raging Bull" bounding upward from No. 24 in 1998 to No. 4 on the new list and Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 thriller "Vertigo" hurtling from No. 61 to No. 9 this time.

Charles Chaplin's 1931 silent gem "City Lights" jumped from No. 76 to No. 11, while the 1956 John Ford-John Wayne Western "The Searchers" took the biggest leap, from No. 96 all the way to No. 12.

Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 epic "The Godfather" ranked No. 2, up one notch from 1998, switching places with Michael Curtiz's 1942 favorite "Casablanca," which dipped from second-place to third.

"Close Encounters" director Steven Spielberg had the most films on the list with five, while Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and Billy Wilder each had four. James Stewart and Robert De Niro were the most-represented actors with five films apiece.

A reunion of the Spice Girls has grown ever closer in recent months, with only Melanie C seemingly coming out against the plan.

However, speaking at the Glamour Awards, Victoria admitted: "We'll see what turns out, but between you and me, I'm really hopeful that it definitely will happen."

Gay Pride Month at TCM

In celebration of June’s Gay Pride Month, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will present Screened Out: Gay Images in Film, a month-long, on-air film presentation of the varied concepts, stereotypes and imagery of gays & lesbians as represented in classic Hollywood cinema. Esteemed author and historian Richard Barrios will serve as special consultant and co-host of the event, along with TCM host and film historian Robert Osborne, providing context for the film series with introductions on the network preceding the films. In addition to Barrios’ commentary, several prominent figures will provide their thoughts and remarks, including Michael Musto, Tab Hunter, Ron Nyswaner, Charles Busch and Alan Cumming.

The themed film series will air such classic movies as The Broadway Melody (1929), The Maltese Falcon (1941), The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) and Designing Woman (1957) every Monday and Wednesday evening in June beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

The Famous COCONUT GROVE at the Ambassador Hotel

When it opened in 1921, the Coconut Grove instantly became a mecca for movie stars and star-gazers. The famous artificial palm trees which decorated the club's interior were left over from Rudolph Valentino's 1921 movie "The Sheik." The Grove was virtually synonymous with Hollywood glamour - actresses such as Joan Crawford ("Mildred Pierce"), Carole Lombard ("My Man Godfrey"), and Loretta Young ("The Bishop's Wife") were reportedly discovered while dancing at the popular nightclub.

The Coconut Grove was also the site of many of the early Academy Award ceremonies. Oscar statuettes were handed out here on several occasions during the 1930's and early 1940's.

With its Mediterranean styling, tile floors, Italian stone fireplaces and semi-tropical courtyard, the Ambassador enchanted guests for over six decades. Long time residents at the hotel included Howard Hughes, Jean Harlow, John Barrymore and Gloria Swanson, and every U.S. President from Herbert Hoover to Richard Nixon stayed there, as did British royalty. Nixon wrote his Checkers speech here in 1952.

But the hotel had its dark moments as well. It was in the pantry of the Ambassador Hotel that Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan, following Kennedy's victory speech following the California primary election of 1968. We will never know what might have been...

In a movie Bobby (2007) A few scenes were filmed at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, the real-life location of the Robert Kennedy assassination, during its demolition. The wing of the hotel they were using hadn't been touched by the demolition crew yet, in order to preserve items from the pantry where Kennedy was shot.

In February 2006, the Ambassador Hotel was torn down after the film crew shot on the property
