Star of the Month is back . This month featuring another star i had a crush .George Brent

As an actor, Brent featured in many "women’s movies", where most of the time all that could be seen of George was the back of his neck, the screen more focused on whom he was kissing - not bad work if you can get it and it affords you a nice boat. Some of the women kissed by Brent included Kay Francis, Barbara Stanwyck, Myrna Loy, Ann Sheridan and Bette Davis, with whom he appeared in 11 movies including Jezebel (1938) and Dark Victory (1939).

One of my favorite Brent movie is "The Rain Came"

Brent was a womaniser in Hollywood, and had a lengthy relationship with his co-star Bette Davis. He was married four times including three marriages to actresses - Ruth Chatterton (1932-1934), Constance Worth (1937) and Ann Sheridan (1942-1943). Chatterton and Sheridan were both fellow Warners Brothers players. His final marriage was to Janet Michaels, a former model and dress designer. They were married for twenty-seven years until her death in 1974. They had two children together, a son and a daughter.

George Brent has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for his contributions to Motion Pictures at 1709 Vine St, and for his contributions to Television at 1614 Vine St.

Barefoot in the park & Cactus Flower

In a past twodays I ‘d watch a nice comedy that happen to directed by the same director Mr. Gene Saks

Barefoot in the Park (1967)




Based on Neil Simon's 1963 play of the same title, it focuses on newlyweds Corrie and Paul Bratter (Jane Fonda and Robert Redford) and their adventures living in a tiny fifth-floor walk-up apartment in a Greenwich Village brownstone. Stuffed-shirt Paul is a hard-working young attorney just starting his practice, while spontaneous bride Corrie is determined to create a romantic environment in one room with no heat, a hole in the skylight, and oddball neighbors.

The title refers to Paul's becoming drunk, throwing caution to the wind and running barefoot in Washington Square Park in response to his wife's repeated complaints about his sober and cautious demeanor.

...Mildred Natwick (who actually the best thing in the movie) reprises her stage role as the bride's mother, Charles Boyer is featured as the eccentric upstairs neighbor, and Herb Edelman appears as a telephone installer.

Natwick was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Fonda was nominated for a BAFTA as Best Foreign Actress, and Simon received a nod from the Writers Guild of America.

Cactus Flower (1969),

the film version of a Broadway romantic farce, was a personal triumph for its three stars: comic veteran Walter Matthau; dramatic star Ingrid Bergman in a rare comic turn; and television star Goldie Hawn, in her film debut, holding her own with her seasoned co-stars, and winning an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress. The "cactus flower" of the title is Bergman, as Stephanie, a mousy dental assistant secretly in love with her boss, Matthau, a womanizing bachelor. When the dentist enlists her help to get rid of his much-younger girlfriend, Hawn, by pretending to be his wife, the prickly Stephanie blooms like the proverbial title plant.

MADONNA & PALS LIKE BUTTER

Another LA hotspot, Butter, was treated to a visitation by some A-list celebrities Monday night. THE NY POST's PAGE SIX reports that Madonna showed up for some fun, and was said to be "quite chummy" with fellow musician Shakira. The two pop divas reportedly showed up "hand in hand," according to a source. Shakira wasn't the only famous friend hanging out with Madonna, though, as Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Penelope Cruz reportedly joined her for a dance on the club's banquettes. Also at Butter that night was Janet Jackson, who reportedly sat a few booths down from Madonna and her crew.

New Best list

"AFI's 100 Years ... 100 Movies - 10th Anniversary Edition," "Citizen Kane" held the same No. 1 billing it earned in the institute's first top-100 ranking in 1998.

There were notable changes elsewhere, though, with Martin Scorsese's 1980 masterpiece "Raging Bull" bounding upward from No. 24 in 1998 to No. 4 on the new list and Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 thriller "Vertigo" hurtling from No. 61 to No. 9 this time.

Charles Chaplin's 1931 silent gem "City Lights" jumped from No. 76 to No. 11, while the 1956 John Ford-John Wayne Western "The Searchers" took the biggest leap, from No. 96 all the way to No. 12.

Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 epic "The Godfather" ranked No. 2, up one notch from 1998, switching places with Michael Curtiz's 1942 favorite "Casablanca," which dipped from second-place to third.

Both 1967's "The Graduate" and 1954's "On the Waterfront," which ranked Nos. 7 and 8 respectively in 1998, fell out of the top 10, "The Graduate" coming in at No. 17 and "On the Waterfront" finishing at No. 19.

The other five films in the new top 10 also were among the original 10 best, though they shuffled positions: 1952's "Singin' in the Rain (No. 5 now, No. 10 in 1998), 1939's "Gone With the Wind" (No. 6 now, No. 4 in 1998), 1962's "Lawrence of Arabia" (No. 7 now, No. 5 in 1998), 1993's "Schindler's List" (No. 8 now, No. 9 in 1998) and 1939's "The Wizard of Oz" (No. 10 now, No. 6 in 1998).

The top-100 were chosen from ballots sent to 1,500 filmmakers, actors, writers, critics and others in Hollywood from a list of 400 nominated movies, 43 of which came from the decade since the first list was compiled.

Sorry Chicago, Brokeback Mountain ,Gladiator ,Beautiful Mind ......You are not on the list Of those newer films, only four made the top-100: 2001's "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" (No. 50), 1998's "Saving Private Ryan" (No. 71), 1997's "Titanic" (No. 83) and 1999's "The Sixth Sense" (No. 89).

Other additions to the list: "The General," "Intolerance," "Nashville," "Sullivan's Travels," "Cabaret," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" "The Shawshank Redemption," "In The Heat of the Night," "All the President's Men," "Spartacus," "Sunrise," "A Night at the Opera," "12 Angry Men," "Swing Time," "Sophie's Choice," "The Last Picture Show," "Do the Right Thing," "Blade Runner" and "Toy Story."

Of course, with new choices come notable subtractions.

Titles that didn't make the cut this time: "Doctor Zhivago," "Birth of a Nation," "From Here to Eternity," "Amadeus," "All Quiet on the Western Front," "The Third Man," "Fantasia," "Rebel Without a Cause," "Stagecoach," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "The Manchurian Candidate," "An American in Paris," "Wuthering Heights," "Dances With Wolves," "Giant," "Fargo," "Mutiny on the Bounty," the 1931 "Frankenstein," "Patton," "The Jazz Singer," "My Fair Lady," "A Place in the Sun" and "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner

"Close Encounters" director Steven Spielberg had the most films on the list with five, while Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and Billy Wilder each had four. James Stewart and Robert De Niro were the most-represented actors with five films apiece.

The women remake

After almost 70 years from it's original release date "The Women" is actually going to be re-made. The movie is coming out in 2008 and it will star Debra Messing, Eva Mendes, Annette Being, Jada Pinkett Smith and Candice Bergen.







The Women directed by ladies director George Cukor, about "catty" women, rivalries, and infidelity. This above average comedy drama features Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Mary Boland, Paulette Goddard, Joan Fontaine, Marjorie Main, Virginia Grey, Ruth Hussey, child actress Virginia Weidler, Cora Witherspoon, Lucile Watson, and Hedda Hopper (among others)....
